As we climb out from our Shenandoah Valley snow bunker, we are dreaming of July: summer warmth, longer days, and our favorite gathering of people at Natural Chimneys Park for our 4th annual Red Wing Roots Music Festival.
We are currently back on the road with a busy touring schedule and new songs in the works. We hope to spend a little time in the studio this year recording another album. It’s our favorite season in our work as musicians, the season of new possibility and creation. And although we have fresh energy with exciting new sounds and music, we also feel happy to be in a groove, where some things remain unchanged and dependable.
Similarly, we’re excited to be in a groove with Red Wing. There is a momentum that is comfortable and yet many times, has surprised us all with collective beauty and joy. We’ve benefited from so many people willing to put in their creativity, sweat, time and even tears to make this a GREAT local festival, as good as it gets anywhere! It’s nice to start feeling the consistency and dependability of traditions seeping into this gathering. BUT make no mistake, we still have some tricks up our sleeves! We won’t become too comfortable or complacent. We’re going to keep on pushing ourselves to do it better each year.
Let’s make it the best yet.
