Festival Camping

Red Wing Roots Music Festival has multiple onsite camping options. Scroll down to learn more about our camping options and to determine what might be best for you and your festival crew.

Red Wing XII camping options include:

Camping in Natural Chimneys Campground

PREMIUM RV CAMPSITE — $945

 

One premium campsite purchase per order.  These spacious RV Campsites include electric and water hook-ups and are good for 4 nights (Thurs 11am – Mon 10am). Each site allows one RV/trailer/popup and two tents (or if no RV, four tents total) and includes parking permits for TWO STEERING WHEELS PER SITE (If you drive an RV, one other vehicle allowed at your campsite). A picnic table and fire ring are provided at each site. 12 people max per site. 3-day wristbands required for all camping guests!  NO PETS.

If you have purchased a Premium Campsite, starting January 24th, you can call and reserve your specific site with Augusta County Parks & Recreation. The office is open from 11am-4pm and the phone number is 540-245-5753. If you choose not to select a site, one will be assigned to you.

SUPER GROUP PREMIUM CAMPING AT NATURAL CHIMNEYS — $3100

Put a group of friends and family together to buy this Premium RV site package. The Super Group package includes a few extra perks to enjoy, as well!

 

  • One Premium RV campsite with room for tents and parking for 2 vehicles
  • Priority to choose your campsite ahead of general selection
  • Twelve 3-day General Admission passes
  • One extra General Admission Parking pass
  • Six Red Wing Steel Pints
  • Option to purchase additional campsite nights through Natural Chimneys Park and Campground by calling (540) 245-5753 on/after January 28th between 11am-4pm.

Super Group includes 1 premium campsite purchase per order.  These spacious RV Campsites include electric and water hook-ups and are good for 4 nights (Thurs 11am – Mon 10am). NO FRILLS TENT CAMPING AT NATURAL CHIMNEYS — $89

6 people and 2 tents max per site. Good for 3 nights (Fri 9am – Mon 10am). You get a flat, grassy 15’ X 15’ plot to set up your tent(s), chairs & maybe even a foosball table… as long as it fits, go for it! No hook ups for electricity or water. No fires and no cars. Folks camping here must park in the general admission parking lot and walk in with their gear. 3-day General Admission tickets required for all camping guests! NO PETS.



Camping in Z Lot

Z-Lot Campsites

Z-lot Camping area is divided into THREE tickets based on the size of camper or desire to tent. (1) Small 20’x20′ RV/tent; (2) Large RV 20’x35′; and (3) Jumbo RV 20’x50′. For all Z Lot Tickets: 6 people and 1 vehicle max per site. Good for 4 nights (Thurs 9am – Mon 10am). Z Lot is situated between the Music Meadow and Hill Stage. Just drive into the field and park your RV or camper. Your plot will be assigned when you arrive at the festival. No hook ups for electricity or water and no fires. Quiet, clean generators are allowed to run 24/7.  Once the festival begins on Friday, there will be limited access to drive into Z Lot. Basically, once you’re there, plan to stay! ONE STEERING WHEEL PER SITE. (If you drive an RV, then no other vehicles allowed. If you tow a camper, your truck is your vehicle.) 3-day wristbands required for all camping guests! NO PETS.

Option 1:  Z Lot SMALL Dry-RV/Tent 20’x20′ — $279
Your RV/Camper must be 20’ or smaller. If you are towing a camper, you’ll need to unhook and park beside it, basically it all needs to fit in your 20’x20’ spot. If you are tenting, you have a 20’x20′ area for your camping sprawl, which includes your vehicle.

Option 2: Z Lot LARGE Dry-RV 20’x35′ — $445
Your RV/Camper must be 35’ or smaller. If you are towing a camper and your truck/camper combo is longer than 35’, you’ll need to unhook and park beside it, basically it all needs to fit in your 20’x35’ spot.

Option 3: Z Lot JUMBO Dry-RV 20’x50′ — $595
Your RV/Camper must be 50’ or smaller. If you are towing a camper and your truck/camper combo is longer than 50’, you’ll need to unhook and park beside it, basically it all needs to fit in your 20’x50’ spot.

Camping on Chimney Ridge

Chimney Ridge Camping Tickets

In addition to our Red Wing Glamping packages, we have two tickets for Chimney Ridge Camping. (1) Car-Camping: allows you to camp directly next to your car in a tent or small camper. (2) Park and Walk: allows you to choose a campsite with a bit more space (and perhaps shade!), with your car nearby in the Chimney Ridge parking area. CHIMNEY RIDGE CAR-CAMPING — $179

2 tents, 4 people and 1 vehicle max per site. Good for 4 nights (Thurs 10am – Mon 10am). You will be assigned a 20′ x 20′ spot to park your car and pitch a tent, or set up your small RV/camper/van. Just remember, if you bring a small RV/camper/van everything needs to fit within your assigned 20’x20’ camp spot AND you must have All Wheel/4×4 drive. CHIMNEY RIDGE PARK & WALK TENT CAMPING — $129

2 tents, 4 people and nearby parking for 1 vehicle max per site. Good for 4 nights (Thurs 10am – Mon 10am). Park and walk to a spot of your choosing. This is a great opportunity to find a nice spot (roughly 20′ x 20′) that might have some of the attributes of your choosing such as shade, flat ground, slightly more privacy, wild flowers, etc. When you arrive, staff can direct you to a drop off zone allowing you to drop off your gear before parking nearby in the Chimney Ridge general parking area. Once the festival begins on Friday, there will be limited access to drive into Chimney Ridge. Basically, once you’re there, plan to stay! 3-day wristbands required for all camping guests! NO PETS. RED WING GLAMPING

Red Wing Glamping offers a special touch of comfort and convenience for your Red Wing experience. Choose from one of three deluxe canvas tent packages and double your comfort by adding A/C!

All three packages are good for 4 nights (Thurs 10am – Mon 10am). When you arrive at Chimney Ridge, our Staff will direct you to your tent. Once the festival begins on Friday, there will be limited access to drive into Chimney Ridge. Basically, once you’re there, plan to stay! 3-day General Admission tickets are sold separately and required for all camping guests. NO PETS. ONE VEHICLE LIMIT PER SITE. Red Wing Glamping Package #1: Double Door Tent w/ King Bed — $1699
Package #1 includes: 1 King Memory Foam Bed with Sheets, Duvet, & Duvet Cover, Power, Lighting, Bedside Table, Rug, Table, 2 Chairs, Fan, and option for a 12,000 BTU air conditioner for an additional $225 (purchase as separate ticket option “Glamping Add-On: Air Conditioning”). Located in the Chimney Ridge Camping area. 2 people and 1 vehicle max per site.

Red Wing Glamping Package #2: Queen Bed or Pair of Twins — $1499
Package #2 includes: 1 Queen Memory Foam Bed with Sheets, Duvet, & Duvet Cover (or option for 2 Twin beds), Power, Lighting, Bedside Table, Rug, Table, 2 Chairs, Fan, and option for a 12,000 BTU air conditioner for an additional $225 (purchase as separate ticket option “Glamping Add-On: Air Conditioning”). Located in the Chimney Ridge Camping area. Room to add one cot. Up to 3 people and 1 vehicle max per site.

Red Wing Glamping Package #3: Pair of Cots — $1199
Package #3 includes: 2 cots with Sleeping Bags, Power, Lighting, Bedside Table, Rug, Fan, and option for a 12,000 BTU air conditioner for an additional $225 (purchase as separate ticket option “Glamping Add-On: Air Conditioning”). Located in the Chimney Ridge Camping area. Room for up to 2 additional cots. Up to 4 people and 1 vehicle max per site.

Glamping Add-On: Air Conditioning — $245
Only purchase if you have already selected one of the Red Wing Glamping packages and would like to add-on Air Conditioning.

Glamping Add-On: Cot — $75
Only purchase if you have already selected one of the Red Wing Glamping packages and would like to add an additional cot. Comes with a sleeping bag you can keep.

Local Campgrounds


Stokesville Campground
(464 Stokesville Rd, Mount Solon, VA) Located just four miles away from the festival, Stokesville offers spectacular views, lots of room to spread out and exclusive use of the Stokesville Bridge swimming hole. This mountain edge campground also includes amazing hiking and mountain biking trails. Note: This year Stokesville will be privately run by Stokesville Campground and Lodge and will not be providing a shuttle service to the festival. 

Shenandoah Valley Campground is the only campground in Virginia with a spectacular waterfall and four 6-person indoor hot tubs. They offer free Wi-Fi, river tubing, wading, and trout/bass fishing in the river as well as their well-stocked weed free lake.  They have a huge pool and a kiddie pool, 18 Hole mini-golf, game room and two playgrounds.

Sherando Lake Recreation Area’s Family Campground provides an ideal camping destination. Situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s known locally as the jewel of the mountains, where visitors enjoy hiking, fishing, swimming and relaxing on the sandy beach. North River Campground This open area campground was originally constructed as a CCC camp. Evidence of the original sites and logging trails still remain today. North River Gorge is a popular hiking, biking, and fishing area with a swinging bridge spanning the North River. Close proximity to Wild Oak National Recreation Trail, Staunton Dam Day Use Area and Elkhorn Lake provide multiple recreational options that are easily accessible within a few miles. Campsites cannot be reserved in advance. First come, first serve. Sites are primitive, but vault toilets are located on-site. No drinking water provided.

Todd Lake Recreation Area Located in Augusta County, visitors to Todd Lake Recreation Area enjoy a historic campground complete with universally accessible beach. A volleyball court, horseshoe pits, children’s playground and an onsite campground host make this location an ideal place to spend a relaxing summer afternoon. Explore multiple trails from this location popular amongst mountain biking, backpacking, and hiking enthusiasts. Sites are $18.
